MCM-9000 BIOS Configuration (DELL PowerEdge R640)

Hardware Target

This document specifies the optimal bios configuration for the DELL PowerEdge R640 server - for general usage.

Entering the BIOS setup

Power on or reboot the system. When a splash screen appears, (the screen with the logo), press the F2 key to enter the BIOS setup.

Configuration state

You can change the BIOS settings in two different methods:

  1. Using the traditional BIOS setup page, which you can enter by pressing F2 when the system is starting up and showing the splash screen

  2. Using the iDrac interface, navigate to the “Configuration” tab and choose “BIOS Settings”.

This guide will demonstrate how to configure the BIOS through iDrac.

Note: Please ensure that the CPU and Mellanox (if used) temperature does not exceed 60 Degrees. If it does, there will be a degradation in server performance.
