How to Backup and Restore on MCM9000
MCM9000 offers backup and restoring system configurations. Please follow the steps below to back up or restore the system configurations.
Export
The complete running configuration is exported to an XML file. To export all the modules, check All () and click Submit. For a partial export, check the desired modules to be exported and click on Submit.
On clicking Submit, the XML file is created locally (on the MCM device). It appears on the Configuration Files Table (this file is saved and available to download only for 15 minutes). Multiple configuration files can be exported.
To save the configuration file, navigate to System → Configuration Files → Export.
Select the Configuration Files that you need to backup. By default, All files are checked. Click on Submit. The configuration file is in .xml format, as shown in the Configuration Files Table. Click on the download icon to save the configuration file in your local drive.
Import
To import complete system configuration navigate to System → Configuration Files → Import, browse for an XML configuration file created by any MCM-9000 device of the same version and click on Submit (If an earlier version file is imported, new features will be initialized with default values). After a successful upload, the file will appear on the Configuration Files Table.
To ingest the configuration into the system, double-click the ingest button, and choose the desired modules to be imported. The new configuration will be applied immediately and overrides any configuration currently in use.
Note: It is possible to ingest all the XML configuration items or only the relevant items. However, while ingesting from one machine to another, only the relevant items should be ingested, as ingesting all the files might corrupt the system (For example, Ingesting Network configuration might result in IP duplicity and Network malfunction).
