MCS provides multiple displays of Subtitle, Teletext, and Closed Caption version 1.1 onwards, compatible with MCM9000 6.3 version onwards.

Follow the steps below to configure the Closed Caption on the tile.

  1. Navigate to Outputs → Tiles.

2. Subtitle, Teletext, and Closed Caption with video and without video can be configured under Captions. Based on the stream Subtitle, Teletext, or Closed Caption will be displayed on the encoder.

Captions with Video

Drag and Drop the Tile Objects needed in the tile editor.

In this example, a few Captions objects are added along with video. You can add or remove the Captions depending on the stream (Tile label : all_subs_tile_overlay) and click on save.

Captions without Video

In this example, only a few Captions objects are added without video (Tile label : Tile no video) and click on save.

You can choose the Captions variant types (Overlay, Remapped, Boxed) as shown below.

3. Navigate to Outputs → Templates, use the tile created in step 2 (all_subs_tile_overlay if you prefer with video or Tile no video if you prefer without video) to create a Layout Template (subs_Overlay) and click on save.

4. Navigate to Outputs → Layouts Configuration, assign the channel to the layout and configure the layout (Animax_subs) and click on save.

5. Navigate to Outputs → Configuration, assign the layout (Animax_subs) to an encoder. On the right side you can see the Captions from the stream.

If you choose no video (Tile no video) Caption in step 2, then the encoder displays only the Captions without video as shown below.

Mapping Captions to Display Position

In order to map the Captions (Subtitle, Teletext, or Closed Caption) to a specific position,

  1. Navigate to Sources → Sources Configuration, click on the source and go to Profiles section. Under Mapping click on Add Mapping. Select the Captions (Subtitle, Teletext, or Closed Caption) that needs to be mapped.

Assign the PID number of the Subtitles in the Mapping field as shown below. The display index shows the position where the Subtitle will be displayed.

Now play the encoder to see the Subtitle in index position 2 as shown below.

** Please note while you use the Display Index Mapping (one or more) only that position’s are visible on the output encoder even if you have configured more than one subtitles/captions/teletext.

For example, if you have configured two Display Index for subtitle in index position 2 and 6, the encoder disaply is as shown below.

Teletext Display Index Mapping

Unlike subtitle and cloased captions, while configuring Teletext for Display Index Mapping only one page number is allowed.

To know the available teletext in the stream, go to Sources → Statistics on the MCM9000 configured to the MCS and expand the PID Tree View as shown below.

Configure the page number of the teletext you need on MCS under, Sources → Configuration and click on save.

The teletext display on the output encoder is as shown below.
