Resource Groups enable you to organize specific MCS resources into distinct groups. This functionality is crucial for creating configurations in the following: DNS Configuration, NTP Configuration, PTP Configuration, and Tally Configuration, ensuring that settings are properly assigned.

Another feature functionality of the Resource Groups is their use in configuring the Ad-Hoc Activation Group. You can find more information about this here.

Another functionality of Resource Groups is the ability to assign devices to a Resource Group. This allows you to activate a source on any MCM within the Resource Group, rather than on a specific MCM. In this setup, the source will be activated by one of the MCMs in the designated Resource Group, rather than being tied to a particular MCM.

MCS manages the MCMs and is designed to display all entries created for DNS, NTP, PTP, or Tally configurations within the MCS. Without resource groups, these entries would also appear in every MCM configured as a device to the same MCS. However, the goal is to assign a unique configuration for DNS, NTP, PTP, or Tally to each MCM. If an MCM uses more than one configuration for these settings, errors will occur, leading to improper functionality.
