Add sources to through MCS

Like in MCM9000, MCS also allows the automatic scanning of channels. Please follow the steps below to scan channels

  1. Navigate to Sources → Sources Scan,

2. Click on the add icon to add a Source to be scanned.

If you have a range of multicast IP to be scanned click on the add button highlighted in green (Relevant for MPEG-TS and 2110 and 2022-6 only). For all other source types, click on add button highlighted in yellow.

 

3. In this example, a MPEG-TS source is used. Fill in the From and To Multicast IP address, Port, and SSM Address (if applicable). Click on Add range and then click on Save icon.

4. The newly added MPEG-TS source is available on the Source Scan Task page now.

 

5. Click on the Run arrow icon that will allow you to choose Scan attributes.

Scan attributes:

  • Action for Existing Channels: When the same channel exists due to previous scans, choose the relevant option from the list.

    • Do Nothing : Doesn’t cause any changes.

    • Duplicate Channel : Creates a copy/duplicates of the existing channels.

    • Force Merge to Active or Add : If there is an changes to the channels merges the changes to it.

  • Action for New Channels: When the channel is added newly.

    • Do Nothing : Doesn’t add the scanned channel.

    • Add : Adds the scanned channel.

  • Select Device: Displays the list of MCM9000 devices added during initial configuration. Select anyone of MCM device.

Once the Scan attributes are selected, click on the start button to start scanning.

 

As the channels are scanned, the Scanning Progress can be seen.

 

Once the channel is scanned, Scan Tasks page shows the Status. Click on the result icon highlighted in green to see the channel that was added.

 

6. The newly scanned is added to the Source Configuration page.

Click on the Device/Group to monitor/unmonitor the channel on the desired MCM9000 device. In this example, it is the device highlighted in red.

 

Once the channel monitoring is started, a Monitoring Enabled message is displayed.

 

To verify, go to the MCM9000 device and check on Sources → Configuration

Done! The channel is successfully added.
