This section explains the different Channel Source types that could be added for automatic scan
configuration setup while creating a new channel or editing an existing Channel Source.

MPEGTS

MPEG transport stream (MPEGTS) allows the transmission and storage of Audio, Video, and Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) data. Broadcast systems such as DVB, ATSC, and IPTV use MPEGTS.

The MPEGTS GUI has the below fields.
The From Multicast Address, From Port, and Network are mandatory fields. If the To entries are left blank, only a single address will be scanned. To initiate the scan, click Submit after specifying the relevant details.

Fields

Description

Scan
These are the mandatory fields and are displayed in the Scan Channels GUI.

 

 

Network

Logical network name, as configured under Network.

Device

Monitoring device name.

Access Type

Selected channel Scan Source (MPEGTS).

Add Range
Add Range allows to input a range of values (Multicast, Port, and Source Specific addresses) that could be generated for relevant channel sources. Click on the Generate button after all the below fields are specified.

 

 

From Multicast Address

Specify the Multicast address range from which it should be scanned (E.g., 255.1.10.1).
*Please note for a unicast stream transmitted, specify the IP address of the receiving network interface.

To Multicast Address

Specify the Multicast address range until which it should be scanned (E.g., 255.1.10.10).

From Port

Specify the Port address range from which it should be scanned (E.g., 8080).

To Port

Specify the Port address range from which it should be scanned (E.g., 8080).

From Source Specific Address

Specify the source IP if needed.

To Source Specific Address

Specify the source IP if needed.

Name Template
Template for naming the channel source. Click on the Append or Override button to append or override an existing name.

 

 

Default Template

Default templates available are:

  • _#SDT

ADDR#:_ SDT is the name of the stream, ADDR is the address.

  • #IP#: IP address.
  • #PORT#: Port number.
  • #SSM#: Source Specific Multicast.
  • #TSID#: Transport Stream ID.
  • #SDT#: Name of the stream.
  • #PNUM#: Program Number.
    Default templates or any name of choice can be specified for the channel source name.

Sources
All the details specified in the Add Range and Name Template are listed here. One can also set the below fields manually.
Suppose there is a list of Sources with the below details that need to be added. Copy the details (ctrl+c) and click on the Sources table to paste (ctrl+v).

 

 

Name

Input the source channel's desired name manually, or append the name from the Default Template.

IP Address/URL

Input a valid multicast IP address or URL of the source channel manually, or the IP address specified in the Add Range table is displayed.

Port

Input the source channel's valid port address manually, or the port address specified in the Add Range table is displayed.

SSM

Input the source channel's valid SSM manually, or the SSM specified in the Add Range table is displayed.


Note: To initiate the scan, click Submit. The number of found channels will be displayed on the Status column in the Scan Channels GUI on completing the scan. All new channels will be visible in gray on the Sources Configuration table.
Any existing channel rescanned will be assigned the Scanned profile in gray. To use these profile definitions later, go to the channel's profile, click the Scanned profile and rename it. See Profiles for more information.




























OTT

Over-the-top (OTT) provides streaming service over the internet, bypassing cable, broadcast, and satellite television platforms.

The OTT GUI has the below fields.
To initiate the scan, click Submit after specifying the relevant details.

Access Type

Selected channel Scan Source (OTT).

Name Template
Template for naming the channel source. Click on the Append or Override button to append or override an existing name.

 

 

Default Template

Default templates available is:

  • _#RES

BAND#{_}: Resolution, Bandwidth.
Default templates or any name of choice can be specified for the channel source name.

Sources
Suppose there is a list of Sources with the below details that need to be added. Copy the details (ctrl+c) and click on the Sources table to paste (ctrl+v).

 

 

Name

Input the source channel's desired name manually, or append the name from the Default Template.

IP Address/URL

Input a valid IP address or URL of the source channel manually, or the IP address specified in the Add Range table is displayed.


Note: To initiate the scan, click Submit. The number of found channels will be displayed on the Status column in the Scan Channels GUI on completing the scan. All new channels will be visible in gray on the Sources Configuration table.

RTMP

Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) is a protocol for streaming audio, video, and data over the internet.

The RTMP GUI has the below fields.
To initiate the scan, click Submit after specifying the relevant details.

Uncompressed

Uncompressed support includes two types of uncompressed video over IP sources SMPTE 2022-6 standard and the SMPTE 2110 with its sub-standards.

The Uncompressed GUI has the below fields.
To initiate the scan, click Submit after specifying the relevant details.

CTP

Cloud Transport Protocol (CTP) is a TAG-designed protocol for channel sources primarily used to feed content into and from the Cloud. It has six tabs with its respective configuration, as discussed below.

The CTP GUI has the below fields.
To initiate the scan, click Submit after specifying the relevant details.
