Notifications Configuration

In this section, the Notifications configuration is described.

The events triggered through the Threshold can be notified by various Notification Agents. In MCS, Notification Agents (Highlighted in green) and Sets (Highlighted in red) can be viewed on the same screen as shown below.

Notification Agents

It is possible to define several Notification Agent configurations and associate them with different Notification Sets based on their Severities.

There are seven types of Notification Agents: Display Agent, SNMP Agent, Email Agent, Syslog Agent, Audio Alarm Agent, Recording (File Agent). Click on the add or copy icon to add a new agent.

Display

Display Agents are responsible for the visual display of active events on the corresponding tile in the mosaic. It has the same fields as in the Display MCM9000. Fill in the details and click on save.

Fields

Description

Name

Name of the Display Agent.

Type

Agent Type (Display)

Active Color

Displays the color of the event notification when active.

Non-Active Color

Display the color of the event notification during decay, after the event alarm has ended.

Decay Time

Amount of time (in seconds) for the Notification display when an event becomes non-active.

Draw Border

Specifies whether a border is displayed while the event is active.

Draw Text

When disabled, no text notification is displayed.

Border Color

Color of an active event border (Applicable only when the Draw Border option is checked).

Blink Color

Displays the blink color of the event notification when active. For example, if the Active Color is red and Blink Color is green, the event notification flashes the alarm in red and green in an alternating mode.

SNMP

SNMP Agents provide event notifications through the UDP PUSH method to an SNMP trap. It has the same fields as in the SNMP MCM9000. Fill in the details and click on save.

Fields

Description

Name

Name of the SNMP Agent.

Type

Agent Type (SNMP)

IP Address

Port

SNMP server port.

Network

Select the network interface to connect with the SNMP server. Auto for automatic selection.

Community

SNMP community string.

Send Clear Events

Sends also a clear event notification notice when the toggle switch is checked.

* Clear notifications will be sent once the event is inactive. For multiple occurrences of the same alarm, a clear message is sent only once.

Keep Alive Interval (sec)

Keep Alive is a message sent in a pre-configured interval to ensure the connection to the SNMP server is active. Disabling the Keep Alive Interval will stop the Keep Alive messages from being sent to the SNMP server. Assigning a value to this field will send Keep Alive messages to the SNMP server, according to the set interval.

Email

Email Agents provide event notifications via email. It has the same fields as in the Email MCM9000. Fill in the details and click on save.

Fields

Description

Name

Name of the Email Agent.

Type

Agent Type (Email)

From

Name or email, for display purposes.

Host

SMTP server address (IP address or DNS).

Port

SMTP server port.

Network

Enable SSL.

Username

Email Username or full email address of the account from which the test is sent.

Password

Email password.

Recipients

Email addresses to receive notifications, separated by a comma.

Min. email interval

Specifies the minimum time interval for sending emails (in minutes).

Max events per email

Specifies the maximum number of events for each notification email.

Send Clear Event

Sends also a clear event notification notice when the toggle switch is checked.

*Clear notifications will be sent once the event is inactive. For multiple occurrences of the same alarm, a clear message is sent only once.

Syslog

Syslog Agents provide event notifications to a Syslog server in a PUSH method. It has the same fields as in the Syslog MCM9000. Fill in the details and click on save.

Fields

Description

Name

Name of the Syslog Agent.

Type

Agent Type (Syslog)

IP Address

Syslog server address.

Send Clear Events

Sends also a clear event notification notice when the toggle switch is checked.

* Clear notifications will be sent once the event is inactive. For multiple occurrences of the same alarm, a clear message is sent only once.

Keep Alive Interval (sec)

Keep Alive is a message sent in a pre-configured interval to ensure the connection to the Syslog server is active. Disabling the Keep Alive Interval will stop the Keep Alive messages from being sent to the Syslog server. Assigning a value to this field will send Keep Alive messages to the Syslog server, according to the set interval.

Audio

Audio Alarm Agents provide event notifications through the mosaic output audio. If an Audio Alarm Agent is desired, it is essential to configure either an Audio Alarm Agent or a channel audio output for a given mosaic output, but not both. It has the same fields as in the Audio MCM9000. Fill in the details and click on save.

** MCS Version 1.1 onwards Alarm duration and silence on acknowledge are moved to Outputs Config | Miscellaneous section.

Specifies the maximum file size (in MB) of the recorded video for a single event. In case the limit reaches the maximum file size ahead of Record Before Trigger definitions, the recording will stop before the error occurs. A Syslog event will be created in that case.

Maximum Recording Time

The maximum duration of the recording.

PID Filtering

Enabling PID Filtering, include only the channel which triggered the event in the recorded output. Else, all the MPTS will be recorded. Unfiltered recordings generate large files.

Notification Configuration and Usage

Notification in MCS is same as Notification Sets in MCM9000. Notifications define how to report the events. It allows the user to monitor different channels uniquely through the Notification Agents decribed above (For example, the same event on different channels can be alerted differently; in one channel via email, while in the other channel through an audio alarm). To create a Notification Set:

  • Configure the Threshold Sets with appropriate Severity (Critical, Major, Minor, Warning, Notice, Info) that requires alerts.

  • Configure Notification Agents to define how to alert different events.

  • Now, create the desired Notification Sets as shown below.

  1. Create a Notification Configuration (Notification_test) as shown below and click on save.

  2. Now, click on the newly created Notification Configuration (Notification_test), drag and drop the Notification agents from the right pane into the center as shown below. In this example, one display agent is choosen for critical alert, for minor a SNMP agent and recording for critical.

  3. Once you drag and drop click on save to have your desired notification set.

  4. Navigate to Sources → Sources Config, double click on the channel source you want to configure Notifications, go to profiles section and choose the Notification created in step 3 and click on save.

**You can create different notifications for different channels based on your preference and use it under profiles section.
