Syslog Agent
Notifications → Notification Agents → Syslog Agents
Syslog Agents provide event notifications to a Syslog server in a PUSH method. It has the below fields.
Fields | Description |
Name | Name of the Syslog Agent. |
IP Address | Syslog server address. |
Port | Syslog server port. |
Network | Select the network interface to connect with the Syslog server. Auto for automatic selection. |
Send Clear Events | Sends also a clear event notification notice when the toggle switch is checked. * Clear notifications will be sent once the event is inactive. For multiple occurrences of the same alarm, a clear message is sent only once. |
Keep Alive Interval (sec) | Keep Alive is a message sent in a pre-configured interval to ensure the connection to the Syslog server is active. Disabling the Keep Alive Interval will stop the Keep Alive messages from being sent to the Syslog server. Assigning a value to this field will send Keep Alive messages to the Syslog server, according to the set interval. |
Send Test Keep Alive | Click on the Send Test Keep Alive button to send a notification test. |
**Syslog messages are sent in the RFC 5424: The Syslog Protocol (rfc-editor.org) format.
Additionally:
The Syslog agent changes or edits need to be saved as local configuration before it sends messages according to the edits.
MCMs sends Syslogs as UDP messages (Not TCP), which might be lost if there are network issues or the syslog server can't keep up.
